Our Client’s Challenge
Did you know that Baltimore was the first American city to illuminate its streets with gas lanterns in 1816? Today, we take light for granted but imagine what a tremendous impact that had on city life in the nineteenth century. Light is a magical thing that enriches us both physically and spiritually. Fast forward two hundred plus years and Light City Baltimore harnessed that magic and transformed the city with world class light displays and sculptures, video projections on buildings, music, interactive technologies and thought-provoking conferences exploring how we can become a more responsible, enlightened, and equitable society. Overall, Light City Baltimore created a unique experience for families, residents and visitors and it attracted 400,000 attendees.
An event of this size calls for a great deal of collaboration from the artists, the community, local government and businesses. It also requires a small army of dedicated workers to keep everything running smoothly and on time. This is where WillScot entered the picture.
SOLUTION
Because of our local presence in the area, the Baltimore Office of Promotions and the Arts reached out to us for their modular needs during Light City’s illuminating downtown presence. A month before delivery one of our account executives attended a logistics meeting at the Baltimore City Police HQ to ensure all participants were on the same page. Within a few short weeks, two, four steel storage containers were delivered to Rash Field, a strategic location in the city’s Inner Harbor, to add that necessary operating space that helped make Light City Baltimore a success. In addition to that space, we also furnished five of the units with our basic 360 Service furniture package (one less call and task for the event committee to deal with) and added on steps and security screens to keep everything safe and secure.
Although the duration is usually short, temporary office and storage space is critical to the success of any event. It doesn’t matter if it is a city-wide festival, the big game, concerts, races or tournaments; our modular solutions are an event organizer’s BFFs. We are dependable, responsive and our products can quickly move directly into an event’s epicenter – and neatly disappear when all of the hoopla is in the history books. No muss. No fuss.
