About this Case Study

Challenge

Friends Academy is a Quaker, coeducational, independent, college preparatory school located in Locust Valley, NY. Since 1876, the school has been educating students from nursery school through the twelfth grade.

Recently, the academy underwent significant renovation to their middle school facility with construction work scheduled to continue through their spring semester into the summer. The renovation included an addition on the east end of their existing building, modernization of the HVAC system, additional bathrooms, collaborative learning and gathering spaces for each class, and overall upgrading of all classrooms, offices and hallways. An ambitious project but where to relocate their students and faculty during exciting time? Enter WillScot.

Solution

The Friends Academy evaluated us against a competitor and traditional section modular classrooms but our “ace in the hole” was our versatile FLEX unit. FLEX has a smaller footprint, it's modern, it features ground level access, and its interchangeable panels can create a truly customized solution for a variety of applications. The Academy toured another FLEX project and liked what they saw. Thirty-six units were installed on the Friends’ Academy Quad to create an academic village-style campus housing twelve classrooms with an ADA certified deck with stair and ramp access.

WillScot offers options that make a decision maker’s life a lot less complicated. That’s what friends are for.
