NAVAIR / Lakehurst Naval Air Base

NAVAIR / Lakehurst Naval Air Base

LAKEHURST, NEW JERSEY

Solution Type: Office
Scope of Project: 21,160 square feet
Time To Occupancy: 12 weeks

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the largest naval aviation installation in the Northeast and one of more than 20 tenant organizations residing at the joint operations base of McGuire AFB-Fort Dix-Lakehurst NAES. NAVAIR Lakehurst provides facilities, engineering services, procurement, logistics, program management and support related to navy and marine aircraft initiatives. Because of growth within the organization, NAVAIR Lakehurst needed to expand their existing office operations to accommodate the increase in personnel.

To avoid disruption in operations and minimize displacement of staff, NAVAIR sought a temporary mobile office space solution while its permanent office building underwent major renovations and expansion. NAVAIR needed the facility to accommodate 200 people, incorporate anti-terrorism force protection measures and be completed within 12 weeks. Also, procurement for the facility space would be managed through the General Services Administration (GSA).

Due to our ability to meet the timeline and provide a quality modular space solution on the GSA Schedule, we were awarded the project. Since the project was on a federal installation, all subcontractors had to be cleared by the base before proceeding to the site for the duration of the project. To ensure security guidelines and site regulations were met, we closely coordinated with and managed the scheduling of all the subcontractors. Within weeks, Williams Scotsman and the overall project team delivered and installed (2) 14-unit Redi-Plex complexes with combined total dimensions of 120’x 168’. The two complexes were installed back-to-back and connected by two site-built corridors.

The facility’s interior features a large open cubicle office area, private offices, modular conference rooms and a large kitchen area that was built on-site. Also, the exterior included pre-cast concrete steps and a ramp with steel hand rails. To accommodate the anti-terrorism force protection requirements, blast protection windows, a “Fire Alarm Mass Notification System” and HVAC snorkels were incorporated into the facility.

Attention! Our modular office solutions can meet the tough demands of the military. At ease.
