George Butler Celebrates 50 Year Milestone with Williams Scotsman

George Butler's 50 Year Milestone June 6, 2008 - The year was 1958. The U.S. economy struggled to regain its footing in the wake of the post-WWII boom years. The average cost of a home was $30,000 and gasoline cost 24 cents per gallon. Education grew explosively due to strong demand at the high school and college levels. On the popular culture front, Billboard Magazine debuted its "Hot 100" singles chart, with Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" as the number 1 record, followed by songs from Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Peggy Lee. And Elvis Presley entered the U.S. Army.

On June 6th of that same year, a Navy veteran named George Butler was hired as a mechanic -- the very first employee -- at a storage trailer company called MFOC in New Jersey. As that company expanded geographically, George became responsible for the maintenance of 4000 units from New York to Virginia, adding Florida in the early 1980's. With the sale of MFOC to Williams Scotsman in 1994, George assumed the role of service manager for the road and storage trailer branch in Berlin, NJ.

To his colleagues, George represents an unwavering commitment to service and a level of integrity that can proudly be referred to as "old fashioned." As the years have progressed, George has never allowed his knowledge and curiosity to rest. He has mentored more than 100 mechanics and service workers over his long career, helping to instill technical skills, dependability, and strong work ethic.

In addition to spending time with his wife Joanne, daughters Robin and Tambra, and three grandchildren, George enjoys farming and home projects. He raises many of his own fruits and vegetables, and enjoys puttering around the home that he built in the early 1980's.

Williams Scotsman congratulats George Butler for a half-century of service to our company, a record that will likely stand unbroken long past his eventual retirement. In achieving this milestone, George continues to demonstrate the expertise, commitment to service, and quality focus that characterizes the people of Williams Scotsman. And we thank George for modeling -- and helping to create -- this reputation in the marketplace over the course of the past 50 years.
